Overview

Trattoria da Pina is a seafood gem nestled along the picturesque Strada Provinciale 179 in Vulcano Gelso, Italy. With its prime location just steps from the sea, the restaurant offers diners an immersive coastal dining experience, blending fresh island ingredients with traditional Sicilian flavors.

The menu centers on fresh seafood, showcasing specialties such as Antipasto Della Casa—a vibrant assortment of local vegetables, marinated anchovies, and fresh fish delicacies—setting the tone for an authentic taste of the Aeolian Islands. Signature dishes like Involtini di Spatola and Spaghetti al Nero di Totani highlight the chef’s mastery of seafood preparation, marrying tender fish rolls with the rich, briny notes of cuttlefish ink pasta. Pasta alla Siciliana, enriched by a fragrant melt of local fennel and capers, stands out as a celebration of regional produce and culinary heritage.

What truly elevates the Trattoria da Pina experience is its warm, family-run atmosphere paired with impeccable freshness and seasonality. Guests repeatedly praise the attentive service and friendly staff, making every visit feel intimate and welcoming. The restaurant’s setting by the beach enhances the meal; a cold beer after a swim in the crystal-clear sea perfectly complements the flavors on the plate. Attuned to travelers seeking quality and authenticity, it is a favored spot for both locals and visitors eager to savor genuine Sicilian seafood cuisine.

The space maintains a relaxed yet vibrant vibe, ideal for leisurely lunches or romantic dinners, enhanced by sweeping views of the Ionian Sea. While the selection of desserts may leave room for refinement, the overall dining experience is memorable for the freshness of the catch and the robust, traditional flavors that define this coastal trattoria.

In summary, Trattoria da Pina is a true hidden treasure on Vulcano, ideal for those craving expertly prepared seafood dishes in an idyllic seaside setting. Reservations are recommended to enjoy this culinary retreat that represents the heart and soul of Sicilian island gastronomy.

Location of the restaurant is amazing and the beach is wonderful, our favourite in Vulcano. Very much recommended (pasta and mussels were wonderful). Clean toilets, useful for the beach. Amazing to have a cold beer when swimming in the sea! Will visit again.

The best food we had on Vulcano! Wonderful little restaurant located right at the sea at Gelso, Vulcano. Very friendly staff and fantastic fresh fish every day. Enjoy the crudo and tagliata di tonno - or one of the many other pasta and fish dishes with a glass of wine. Open only during lunch and dinner times, check out opening times and call to make a reservation. A true hidden gem! The drive down to the restaurant is also a great experience itself with wonderful views.

This is a family owned restaurant that serves delicious and fresh seafood and pasta. Every dish that was tried was amazing, maybe except for desert. They need to work on that. This was one of the highlights of visiting this island!

Right in the South of the Island where to only road leads to, isthis Trattoria da Pina di Maniaci. We ate here twice and spent much of the day on the jetty, diving in for a swim. The food is superb, especially the pasta and fresh fish dishes. The place is really relaxed, the staff are all family while the men are in service and the mama swngings the spoons and pans. Relaxed because if it is busy, you just hang out at the sea or walk over to the light tower and back, and Voilá, you are likely to get a table. It is almost recommendable to wait a bit. Super!
